About

the role

As a Visual Designer on the Cross-Meta Visual Systems team, you will play an essential role in shaping the visual identity of Meta experiences through iconography and visual expression. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with designers to understand goals and deliver high‑quality iconography and visual assets
  • Support the creation, maintenance and delivery of individual icons and icon libraries (UI, product, feature icons) across multiple sizes, weights and themes, including workflows for exporting, naming, versioning and asset delivery
  • Develop pixel‑perfect, grid‑aligned icons by exploring universally recognized visual metaphors and adapting them to consistently reflect Meta’s brand identity and system guidelines
  • Extend and document icon standards, usage rules and do/don’t guidance in partnership with design leads
  • Develop and articulate clear ideas, concepts and designs for creative assets from concept through execution
  • Translate product needs into visually compelling, intuitive and emotionally engaging designs
  • Manage and incorporate feedback from partners and stakeholders
  • Provide and solicit constructive feedback to continually elevate design quality
Requirements
  • 4+ years of professional experience in graphic/visual design, production design and applications across web, desktop and mobile (iOS + Android)
  • Proven experience designing and implementing icon systems at scale for large products or services
  • Proven experience exploring metaphors to bring clarity to complex concepts and aid comprehension for a global audience
  • Expert‑level proficiency with creative and production tools such as Figma (libraries, components, variables/styles, asset prep/export workflows), Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, G Suite, Microsoft Office, etc
  • Strong understanding of vector construction, grid systems, optical alignment and accessibility considerations (contrast, clarity at small sizes)
  • Strong collaboration skills working with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistency and quality
  • Exceptional craftsmanship with strong attention to detail and passion for visual design
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, prioritize effectively and manage time well
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate design direction to both artists and non‑artists
