Locum - Physician - Hematology Oncology Coos Bay, OR Are you a dedicated Hematology-Oncology Specialist seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patient care? Join our dynamic outpatient oncology team in Coos Bay, OR, as a locum physician and help bridge the gap during a vital period of transition.
This role offers the chance to work in a state-of-the-art cancer center, providing compassionate care to a diverse patient population in a collaborative environment. In this position, you will function as a key member of the clinical team, performing tasks and procedures aligned with your training and licensure. You will primarily focus on diagnosing and managing solid tumor cases, with a small percentage of benign hematology.
Your expertise will help ensure timely diagnoses and treatment plans, contributing to improved patient outcomes. The setting is outpatient, utilizing the EPIC EMR system, with a commitment to excellence and patient-centered care.
Required Skills:
Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid medical license in Oregon Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and Oncology Proven experience in outpatient oncology and hematology care Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Nice to Have
Skills:
Previous experience in a cancer center environment Experience managing inpatient chemotherapy patients Familiarity with trauma level 3 healthcare settings Ability to coordinate with radiation oncologists and APPs Preferred
Education and Experience:
Medical degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 2 years post-residency experience in Hematology/Oncology Prior locum or outpatient clinic experience preferred Other Requirements:
Ability to commence coverage by March 1, 2026, with ongoing assignments Credentialing process estimated to take 6-8 weeks Willingness to participate in call rotations (1 in 4, including weekends) Unpaid EPIC training of 4 hours required before start Lodging will be coordinated and provided by Bay Area Hospital Benefit from a competitive hourly pay rate with weekly payments via direct deposit, comprehensive medical benefits, paid sick leave, and reimbursement for licensure, certification, travel, and other expenses as applicable.
