Role Overview

The Resource and Adoptive Parent Training Team partners with Foster Care Specialists, Family Case Managers, Licensed Child Placing Agencies (LCPAs), and other stakeholders to identify, develop, and deliver training programs. As a RAPT Trainer, you will facilitate in-person and virtual sessions for current and prospective Resource and Adoptive Parents, ensuring compliance with initial and annual licensing requirements. You will also mentor, coach, and educate DCS staff and regulated communities.

  • Facilitate engaging training sessions for foster and adoptive parents statewide.
  • Collaborate with DCS teams and partner agencies to develop training content.
  • Mentor and coach staff on best practices in child welfare.
Requirements
  • Experience in teaching, training, or facilitation.
  • Knowledge of child welfare standards and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of DCS.
  • Availability for evening and weekend sessions.
Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include:

  • You will develop and provide regional pre-service sessions for the assigned division/department.
  • You will also provide content expertise, through research and experience to curriculum writers on topics identified for curriculum development. This will be done through seminars/workshops, videoconferencing, and webinars for the agency.
  • You will assist resource parents with accessing online training modules necessary to complete both pre-service training and ongoing training through coordination with local libraries and local offices as appropriate.
  • Additionally, through research and experience, staff development trainers become experts when a new curriculum is needed and provide additional insight to weave the DCS mission vision and values as well as the DCS Practice Model throughout DCS resource parent training.
  • Essential functions of this position require travel on most workdays to inspect, audit, examine, survey, or investigate clients, customers, or other regulated entities and write reports at those sites or employee’s home. Employee reports to the agency’s office for occasional meetings or events. Number and timing of work hours may vary daily or weekly to accommodate operational needs and staffing concerns at the client’s or customer’s worksite, minimize expenditures for repeated visits to complete the work, and allocate resources to complete assigned work effectively.
