Job Title: Tenure Track Faculty Instructor – Biology

This position is open until filled. This position is for the 2026‑2027 Academic Year (Sept 2026).
Responsibilities- Teach a range of biology classes: introductory Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology. Provide instruction in groups and individually using lecture, demonstration, group discussion, technology‑enhanced delivery, and distance delivery. Adapt materials to meet needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with the Instructional Dean and faculty to develop or modify course content, objectives, standards, instructional methods, and degree/certificate programs.
- Engage in professional development, attend conferences, and stay current in subject area and teaching techniques.
- Participate in committees and institutional duties per the faculty collective bargaining agreement.
- Advise students as assigned: meet at least once per term, assist in goal setting, program requirements, schedule, progress, and provide records.
- Participate in recruitment and retention activities, including outreach to high schools, colleges, agencies.
- Support leadership in departmental goals, accreditation, continuous improvement, assessment, mission fulfillment.
- Attend student convocation ceremony each academic year.
Perform other duties and special projects as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in biology or related field from an accredited institution (recognition per ORS 348.609); official transcripts required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience.
- Mastery of subject area, ability to evaluate student programs and develop curriculum materials.
- Knowledge of teaching methods for diverse learners; ability to adapt instruction.
- Collaborative ability with faculty and staff at all levels; teamwork with Instructional Deans, presidents, industry partners.
- Effective written communication in English.
- Willingness to teach/coach at varied hours.
- Strong planning, organization, time management.
- Computer literacy: word processing, spreadsheets, databases; ability to access student information and provide advising via video/online.
- College‑level teaching experience.
- Experience in adult instruction.
- Demonstrated independent and professional instruction and curriculum development.
- Ability to work with wide range of student ages, backgrounds, academic preparedness.
- Commitment to teaching and mentoring.
- Must reside in the State of Oregon; out‑of‑state employment not supported.
- Final candidates subject to criminal background check.
