Adjunct Faculty Instructor – Community Education and Workforce Development
This position is located at the Curry Campus in Brookings, OR, with additional teaching duties available in Coos and Curry counties and online/remote.
Responsibilities- Teach various courses individually developed in Community Education and Workforce Development.
- Use instructional methodology appropriate to the audience and to the student (lecture, demonstration, group discussion, technology‑enhanced delivery, computer‑assisted delivery, and distance delivery).
- Evaluate students in accordance with the criteria in the course outline and other applicable college policies and procedures, and turn in grades according to college policy.
- When required, create a course syllabus that includes course outcomes, structure, materials to be covered, grading criteria, due dates, types of assessments, and assessment dates.
- Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, demonstrating courteous and cooperative interaction.
- Ensure compliance with all Southwestern Oregon Community College rules, regulations, and policies.
- Demonstrate continued professional growth by staying current and expanding knowledge of teaching techniques.
- Knowledge and ability to instruct various audiences, both individuals and groups, considering multiple learning modalities.
- Ability to use instructional delivery methods that enhance public access to post‑secondary education.
- Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to evaluate student progress both empirically and holistically and to develop course materials for individuals and classes.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Ability to communicate in English orally and in written form at appropriate language levels.
- Ability to use instructional delivery methods that reflect an adult orientation.
- Ability to work cooperatively with department members and the college community in meetings and on projects.
- Ability to review, understand, apply, and share concepts from training programs, conferences, and professional literature.
- Willingness to teach at various hours as required.
- Education requirements are dependent on course offering.
- Experience presenting to groups in an instructional setting.
Must reside in the State of Oregon;
Southwestern Oregon Community College cannot support out‑of‑state employment. Any required credentials or licenses will be dependent on the nature of the course content proposed for instruction.
