Mountain Ltd. OSP Engineer – Coos Bay, OR

The OSP Engineer performs detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks including estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, and budget tracking estimates against actual costs for copper and fiber cables, poles, direct buried and conduit systems. This position prepares and interprets engineering plans, drawings and reports; prepares loop loss design for load and repeater electronics; plans and designs field mounted switches serving areas; and performs pole, conduit and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry OSP design standards and economic feasibility studies.

The engineer also develops and tracks job budgets, conducts periodic job inspections, maintains quality control, and collects field data, prepares and organizes permit packages for submission to the appropriate entities, maintains complex files, keeps records, conducts investigations, processes departmental documents, posts records including accounting and property records, types correspondence and reports, and assists engineers as requested.

Qualifications
  • Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on site plans and in the field
  • Ability to locate existing voice/data plant and relocate facilities, and knowledge of obtaining right-of-ways and easements where required
  • Knowledge of obtaining right-of-ways and easements where required
  • Capable of engineering routine and specific COE/OSP work orders, including complex projects such as road moves
  • Expert knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, voice/data industry standards, PC applications, and COE/OSP record and/or computer‑aided drafting systems
  • Own tools such as a measuring wheel, heightstock, pull finder, laptop, etc.
  • Experience/understanding with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for engineering requirements

Pay: $30/hour, commensurate with experience
