Position: Biomedical Technician / Equipment Support Specialist – Information Systems

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for clinical information systems including MUSE, ICU-CIS, PACS, and other device-integrated healthcare platforms
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain networked medical equipment and associated information systems
  • Troubleshoot system connectivity, interface, and data integration issues involving HL7, DICOM, TCP/IP networking, and related protocols
  • Support system upgrades, patches, vulnerability mitigation, and cybersecurity compliance activities for medical devices
  • Document maintenance actions, system configurations, and troubleshooting activities in accordance with VA policies
Qualifications
  • Associates or higher degree in biomedical technology, biomedical engineering, electronics, information technology, or engineering
  • Minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance, including specialized experience in medical information systems and networking
  • Current knowledge of computer virus protection software, information security tools, and network theory
  • Competency in utilizing and maintaining computer and server-based medical equipment and medical record databases
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES), or similar credentials
  • Experience with VLAN configuration, IP addressing, and network security
  • Familiarity with regulatory agency requirements and International Standard Organization standards
  • Prior experience with network test equipment and tools
