The Life Claims Examiner III is responsible for reviewing and adjudicating complex, large dollar contestable and incontestable claims. This includes deaths in a foreign country and Terminal Illness Accelerated death claims. The person in this position will be responsible for communicating delicate information to beneficiaries, agents and attorneys in a professional manner; both written and verbally, in order to bring claims to their completion.

The Examiner III will work with Underwriting and outside Vendors to obtain the necessary requirements and input necessary to adjudicate a contestable claim.

up to 60K USD Annual

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Review Policy information to determine coverage eligibility and proper beneficiary
• Conduct timely investigations consisting of obtaining Beneficiary and Agent statements, medical records, prescription records, criminal records and motor vehicle records
• Review any statutory requirements regarding fair claim practices, investigation time frames, divorce revocation, estate requirements, minor beneficiary rulings and post-mortem claim interest
• Make solid claim recommendations
• Proactively contact beneficiaries and agents in order to keep a claim moving without delay
• Actively participate in Underwriting and Claim Collaboration calls
• Document timeline, facts and recommendations
• Handle high volume caseload with competing priorities

Qualifications:

• 6-10 Years’ experience in Life Insurance Claims
• High School or College degree
• Strong Critical thinking skills
• Strong Research and organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Computer skills
• Ability to prioritize workload
• LOMA or ICA designation a plus
