This position is a covered position as defined in the Coquille Indian Tribe Chapter 185 Child Protection Ordinance. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Criminal and Character Background Check.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director for Office of Strategic Operations (OSO), the Grant Writing and Development Manager supports the Office of Strategic Operations and other Coquille Indian Tribe (CIT) departments and programs with grant writing and submission of applications for funding, building and cultivating relationships with foundation officers and granting agencies, and coordinating with department directors and senior leadership to align funding requests with organizational goals.

This position is also responsible for championing grant management infrastructure and reporting systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work directly with CIT department directors and senior leaders to write, compile, and submit high-quality grant proposals, applications, and letters of intent, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines.
  • Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities from federal, state, tribal, and private foundation sources that align with CIT’s mission, departmental goals, and strategic plan.
  • Coordinate with department directors and senior leadership across CIT to align funding requests with departmental and organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Champion grant management infrastructure, including tracking systems, submission calendars, and internal processes that support consistent, organized grant activity across departments.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions among stakeholders. Provide technical assistance and guidance to department staff on grant requirements and funder expectations. Monitor post-award grant reporting requirements, and facilitate timely and accurate submission of progress and coordinate on financial and outcome reports to funders.
  • Supervise and provide direction to Grant Coordinators, including delegating work, managing performance, and supporting professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation officers, program officers, and granting agency representatives to support long‑term funding partnerships. Meet with funding agencies and participate in site visits for projects to facilitate project progress and build relationships with the funding agency.
  • Provide technical assistance and training support to program staff related to grant writing, grant applications, budget development meeting grant requirements, reporting timelines and allowable costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
