Job DescriptionThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides high–quality, compassionate, and efficient patient care under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff. On the Medical Care Unit, the CNA performs a comprehensive range of clinical, clerical, and support functions that promote patient health, safety, and dignity. All tasks are carried out under RN supervision.
Responsibilities- Assist with daily living activities.
- Collect objective data and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support therapeutic interventions.
- Coordinate unit activities.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Organize and prioritize work effectively.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Understand cultural sensitivity and developmental stages of care.
- Proficiency in basic computer use and electronic documentation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current, valid Oregon CNA certification (per 2025 unified certification requirements).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous CNA experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, observational, and communication skills required.
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and effective hand-eye coordination.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Regular exposure to body fluids and standard precautions.
- Use of personal computers and electronic health record system.
