- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department and its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care facilities.
- Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures governing the day‑to‑day functions of the nursing department.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) conducted by authorized government agencies as necessary or as directed.
- Prepare and plan the nursing service department’s budget and submit it for review, recommendations, and/or approval by the Administrator.
- Determine staffing needs necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residents.
- Assist the Administrator and/or HR Director in the recruitment and selection of nursing service personnel.
- Assist the HR Director in developing performance evaluation schedules, criteria, and annual reviews for RN, LPN, CNA, medication aide, and related staff.
- Minimum of a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related health care setting.
- Minimum six (6) months of equivalent experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Active CPR/BLS certification.
