Overview

The Security Officer 1 is responsible for enforcing departmental rules and policies as well as investigating criminal activities in and around the Casino and Tribal property to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Tribal Members, quests and Team Members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Learn, comprehend and comply with all casino and tribal policies and procedures, MICS, gaming regulations and job requirements.
  • Participate in all assigned security operations which may rotate on a day to day basis, including special events.
  • Provide personal protection to Tribal Members, Team Members, and guests.
  • Monitor all activities for unauthorized removal of property.
  • Respond to accidents and injuries, administering first-aid as needed, and writing accurate, detailed reports in a timely manner.
  • Enforce all Tribal, City, County, State, and Federal Laws and Ordinances as applicable.
  • Inspect fire suppression equipment daily to ensure successful operation.
  • Inspect all areas for safety and fire hazards and file reports as required.
  • Maintain records regarding incidents of theft, injury, property damage etc., while protecting confidentiality.
  • Takes all necessary steps to protect tribal assets.
  • Generate written reports on all incidents as directed by the security policies and procedures.
  • Guard transfer of money and chips from casino pit to main cage.
  • During the drop, ensures that hot and cold cans are not mixed, remains with the drop cart/trolley at all times, receives full drop cans, dispenses empty drop cans, and provides all radio communication between the drop team and surveillance.
  • Ensure that Management is informed of all matters that affect the company, department or personnel in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as directed by management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Team Members may be exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, including regular exposure for those working on the casino floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and can occasionally reach a high level for short periods of time. This position is determined to have a potential for possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum age requirement: 21 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-year combined experience in Security, First Responder, Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Military preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • General understanding of computer programs, including all Windows applications required.
  • Obtain and maintain current BLS, CPR and First Aid (or higher) certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Obtain Defensive Tactics certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Must have an OLCC Permit at the time of hire.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress situations providing excellent public relation skills.
  • Ability to independently analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
  • Comply with pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
  • Receive and maintain a valid gaming license from the CTCLUSI Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the department and for special casino events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to exchange information efficiently using an earpiece on a multichannel radio.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours.
  • Must be able to carry, reach, twist, bend and squat frequently.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed.
