Job Responsibilities
- Assess the condition of wooden utility poles at ground level through visual and physical inspection.
- Use hand tools for hammering, digging, and drilling the pole.
- Assess the exterior condition of padmount transformers.
- Record results of inspection and maintenance performed in an electronic application using a cell phone or tablet.
- Work safely and efficiently as a team, with one or more team members on a daily basis, as instructed by supervision.
- Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation.
- Present a professional appearance and attitude.
- Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
- Assume full responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be 21 with a valid driver’s license.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience inspecting utility poles.
- Additional experience working in the construction industry or related field is a plus.
- Must be comfortable using a cell phone or tablet for data entry.
- Must be capable of working in a physically demanding role with the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, and regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
- Must be capable of walking several miles a day over various types of terrain.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background checks.
- Must be willing to travel, which may include air as required.
- Varying by customer and/or location, can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states.
- Extended work weeks and additional hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs.
- Must maintain a consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Friday and sometimes weekends as needed.
- Must be able to work in all outside weather conditions (wet, hot, cold).
- Must be able to work with a moderate noise level.
- Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and walk for various periods of time.
- Must wear at least 6-inch high lace up boots with a hard toe, reflective vest, hard hat, gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Schedule may include traveling out of state for extended periods, overtime, weekends, and 10-12 hour shifts.
