Heavy Diesel Mechanic
Les' Sanitary Service a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join the team in Coos Bay, OR! Mechanics interested in secure, steady employment are encouraged to apply. At least 1 year of experience doing maintenance on diesel trucks is preferred.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Guaranteed Overtime:
Time and a half after 40 hours/week.
Competitive Compensation:
Starting pay is $28-$30/hr DOE

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
- Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
- Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
- Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system
- Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
- Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
- Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
- Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon
- Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
- Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record (Required)
- Experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair
- Provide personal tools.
- Class B CDL OR the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment if required.
- Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair.
- Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time;
Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position. - Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.
- The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
