Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Project Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the overall success, quality, execution, and profitability of commercial flooring projects from preconstruction through closeout. This position requires strong initiative, sound decision-making, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects while building lasting relationships with clients, general contractors, vendors, and installation teams.

At Milburn, our Project Managers oversee all aspects of commercial flooring installations—including resilient flooring, carpet, ceramic tile, sports flooring, and specialty flooring systems—across a diverse portfolio of projects in healthcare, education, corporate interiors, retail, and public sector markets. Project sizes can range from $5,000 to $3 million, offering the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile installations that make a lasting impact.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support sales staff and administrators to function as the main “driver” of moving jobs through the pipeline from initial purchase order through job completion.
  • Actively monitor the new job pipeline and review/approve Material Specifications within 72 hours of purchase order submission.
  • Review plans, layouts, and job site conditions to ensure all required material quantities are accurate and provide the best opportunity to satisfy customer needs, maximize cost savings, and support company profitability.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute project schedules and progress updates as required to keep customers and office staff informed of job progress.
  • Attend project meetings as requested and required; attendance is mandatory on GC projects.
  • Review pick tickets and materials in the warehouse to ensure all materials pulled are complete and free of issues or deficiencies.
  • Schedule dumpster deliveries and pick‑ups as required.
  • Prior to approving Material Specifications, actively walk jobs with a focus on identifying opportunities for cost savings and increased gross profit.
  • Conduct pre-job site inspections as frequently as possible. Review and document conditions with close attention to detail to identify potential issues early, including documentation through photographs and emails.
  • Inspect materials upon delivery to the job site to ensure quantities and colours are correct and match the pick ticket.
  • Closely supervise in‑house field staff across the Commercial and Sports Flooring Divisions, with a focus on increasing productivity and keeping labour within budget.
  • Manage and work closely with subcontractors throughout the installation process, serving as their primary point of contact for questions or issues that arise.
  • Frequently visit job sites to maintain job site conditions, manage materials, and inspect the quality and accuracy of work being performed. Address potential issues in real time to minimise significant punch list items at project completion.
  • Ensure flooring installation is completed to a high standard of quality and in a timely manner. Document installations with photographs and save them to the appropriate job folder for future reference.
Qualifications:

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of project management experience in commercial construction; commercial flooring experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects from award through closeout while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
  • Proficient in reviewing, interpreting, and applying construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and installation teams.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated success in commercial construction project management will be considered.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively manage project documentation and communicate professionally via email.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore,…
