Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting
This position reports to the N.A Controller for Brink’s and is responsible for U.S. GAAP technical research, advising senior management of alternatives, strategies, and pitfalls of various accounting matters. The role leverages in-depth accounting knowledge to provide solutions to complex business problems, collaborates with corporate accounting teams and business functions across North America, and presents technical accounting issues to senior management.
Key Responsibilities- Perform technical accounting research and prepare documentation of accounting positions and conclusions.
- Drive the adoption of new accounting standards.
- Assist with process improvement in various areas of the finance organization.
- Provide accounting guidance and analytical support to senior management, operating unit accounting staff, functional departments, and external auditors.
- Assist the Controller and SOX team on Internal Controls, leading projects to maintain the integrity of the SOX compliance program.
- Provide guidance and training related to technical accounting topics to the business.
- Assist or lead special projects as needed.
- Present complex accounting matters, communications, and analyses to senior management clearly and concisely.
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting.
- 7-10 years of experience in public accounting or a publicly traded company.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with an ERP system and a financial reporting/consolidation system similar to Oracle.
- CPA certified or Master’s degree in accounting.
- More than 8 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or a publicly traded company.
- Experience with SEC filings of international companies.
- Oracle Financials experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with SEC filings, resolving technical accounting issues, month‑end accounting close, and financial statement analysis.
- Experience working with a fully integrated accounting system.
- Experience with general ledgers, reporting chart of accounts, account reconciliations, and internal financial reporting.
- Experience with Shared Services.
- Experience with sales type leases and sale leaseback.
