Position Overview
The Business Analyst will report directly to the Senior Director, Revenue Management and will not have any direct reports. This individual performs financial analysis and provides insight into top accounts total revenue trends, with the mission of driving meaningful insights to inform effective decision‑making. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and operationalizing data, accelerating a data‑driven culture, and working cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, Product, and IT.
Responsibilities- Data Collection and Management (30%)
- Gather data from internal and external sources such as sales, marketing, finance, customer feedback, and industry trends.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and freedom from errors through preprocessing, identifying missing or inconsistent data, and resolving discrepancies.
- Integrate data into a centralized database or data warehouse for easy access and analysis.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation
- Use historical data to generate insights into past business performance, identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Track and analyze KPIs such as revenue, sales growth, and customer acquisition to identify emerging trends.
- Reporting and Visualization
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards that provide real‑time insights and KPIs for business leaders.
- Corporate Price and Margin Database Management (30%)
- Design and build a corporate margin database to support a shift to value‑based pricing and configure the Price‑Quote system.
- Manage revenue and cost inputs, validate margin integrity by line of business, and build monitoring for contribution, branch, and operating profit.
- Develop and monitor changes in average trip rates and revenue per trip; support route density and distance scoring by customer location.
- Support database reporting for senior leadership and operations.
- Special Projects (20%)
- Lead projects to improve commission processes and streamline current processes to better support sales growth initiatives.
- Develop ideas and execute on business requirements.
- Revenue and Operations Analysis and Observations (20%)
- Identify key trends in customer‑level revenue movement, including new sales, contract changes, and price adjustments.
- Analyze seasonal revenue items and operational activities that may impact future revenue.
- Offer recommendations to increase or reduce decreases in customer revenues.
- Maintain and validate monthly corporate operations reporting and provide weekly analysis for senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years’ business experience.
- Experience supporting sales is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and develop ideas for continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational skills.
- High level of cognitive ability.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and databases (Salesforce, Snowflake SQL, PowerBI) is an asset.
- Strategic view: maintaining a broad view of the organization and identifying changes and improvements needed at each level.
- Business acumen:
Understanding, communicating, and making decisions using business rationale. - Data modeling & reporting: designing reports that provide meaningful insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Data analysis & interpretation: ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and interpret data to derive actionable insights.
- Achieving business results: improving business performance by communicating performance measures, clarifying the financial implications of decisions, and taking action to optimize resources and work processes.
