Job Summary

Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The role leads the estimating team, collaborates with suppliers and clients, and ensures thorough, competitive pricing and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimates from quantity take‑off on a project and produce computer printouts.
  • Identify project elements that may make a competitive estimate.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to determine scope and required estimate contents.
  • Evaluate areas for potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Lead personnel preparing discipline sub‑estimates for assigned bids.
  • Maintain all working documents and data to back‑up estimate figures.
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Prepare detailed listings of material and equipment items for the estimate and to obtain quotes.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans.
  • Complete all client‑required documents in a timely manner.
  • Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before issuing the formal bid package.
  • Meet with Project Management after a successful bid to explain job scope and transition details.
  • Maintain files of all working documents in the Rosendin approved estimating program.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
  • Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work effort.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of Estimators.
  • Identify and meet customers' needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Have oral and written communication skills required for the position.
  • Be self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
What You Bring to Us
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum four years of estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates.
  • Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
  • Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred.
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience is acceptable.
Travel
  • Up to 10%
Working Conditions
  • General work environment: sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level typically low to medium; can be loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
