Product Designer
Team & Role
Wolters Kluwer Health is seeking a CX/UX Design Manager (Nursing) to lead design and experience strategy and execution across the Nursing portfolio, spanning education, practice, and professional development. This role sits in a complex, regulated, and high‑impact domain and requires a leader who drives clarity, alignment, and data‑driven decision making.
This is a player‑coach leadership role, not a visual design position only. You will set direction in ambiguous spaces, align cross‑functional teams early in the product lifecycle, and ensure UX drives meaningful outcomes for nurses, students, educators, and institutions. You will also act as a change agent, helping partners evolve their understanding of UX from strategic product design to execution.
Hybrid:
Eight days a month we come together in the closest ET/CT local office within 50 miles to experience the value of connecting with colleagues. You will report to the Director, CX/UX Design, and work under the leadership of the VP, User Experience & Design. This role is a part of DXG | UX/CX - Wolters Kluwer DXG U.S., Inc. You can view the site office location directory for potential office preferences nationwide.
Requirements
- Resume and portfolio should demonstrate experience leading complex, cross‑functional product work, including examples of strategic thinking, facilitation, and shipped outcomes, not just visual design artifacts.
- Experience leading UX in complex, ambiguous product environments
- Strong facilitation skills with a track record of driving alignment and decisions
- Ability to influence cross‑functional partners without formal authority
- History of impactful, user‑centered product experiences
- Strong product thinking and business awareness
- Comfort operating as a player‑coach
- Experience in healthcare, education, or other regulated industries
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design practices
- Experience contributing to AI‑enabled or emerging technology experiences
- Background in systems thinking or service design
- Experience working with design systems and scalable UX patterns
- Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
- Proficiency with Figma and current Figma best practices (auto‑layout, local‑components, selection, etc.)
- Adobe Creative Suite familiarity a plus
- Understanding of agile development and complex, cross‑functional delivery
- Foundational knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3 to support effective collaboration with Engineering
- Experience or working knowledge in the AI space, including designing or partnering on AI‑enabled experiences and understanding implications for usability, trust, and workflow integration
- UX is engaged earlier and more consistently in product discovery
- Pre Vis and visioning workshops drive alignment and momentum
- Accessibility and usability are considered early, not retrofitted
- UX helps shape responsible, effective AI‑enabled experiences
- UX is viewed as a vital strategic product partner, not a downstream service
Strategy, Discovery, and Alignment
- Own UX strategy for key Nursing initiatives across education and practice portfolios
- Use iterative discovery and experimentation to reduce product risk by validating value, business viability, usability, and feasibility early and continuously
- Frame complex or competing inputs into clear problem statements and opportunity areas
- Initiate and lead Pre Vis / visioning workshops to align teams on future‑state experiences and priorities
- Bring UX into the earliest stages of product thinking, shaping problems before solutions are defined
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to ensure feasibility, quality, and follow‑through
- Collaborate closely with UX Research to ensure that insights guide strategic decisions and direction, and that proposed solutions are thoroughly validated
Delivery and Execution
- Guide work from strategy through execution, including concepts, roadmaps, and shipped experiences
- Stay hands‑on when needed, particularly during early discovery or high‑ambiguity initiatives
