Position: Educational Diagnostician (2026-2027)

Job Posting – Educational Diagnostician ) Primary Purpose

Implement the special education appraisal process. Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.

Qualifications Education/Certification:

Master’s degree in special education, educational assessment or related field from an accredited college or university.

Valid Texas teaching certificate.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations and policies governing special education.
  • Ability to interpret data.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:

Two years of successful teaching experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Assessment/Evaluation
  • Implement the appraisal process within time guidelines for initial referrals and re-evaluations.
  • Demonstrate competence in the selection, administration, and interpretation of formal and informal assessments to determine learner eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations.
  • Collect, organize, interpret, and communicate learner information and relevant assessment data from cumulative folder and outside evaluation reports to educators, administrators, support staff, parents, and outside resources.
  • Conduct classroom observation and personal interviews.
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to make recommendations regarding student eligibility and educational need for services and to assist with interpretation of evaluation data, appropriate placement, specified timelines, and development of Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
  • Use district data management system and evaluation report writer with proficiency and accuracy.
Consultation
  • Provide professional learning to assist personnel in implementing quality special education programming.
  • Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of evaluation data.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance facilitation of educational programs.
  • Interpret and communicate current legal findings related to federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and local board policy and procedures in the area of evaluation, planning, placement, and delivery of special education services.
Program Management
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate evaluation materials, procedures, and equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the assessment process and make changes based on findings.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required within specified timelines.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
  • Comply with all district and campus requirements and procedure.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain campus visitation.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and effective relationship with supervisors, administrators, educators, staff, students, and parents.
  • Effectively communicate in a timely manner with colleagues, learners, and parents.
  • Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
  • Consult with educators and service providers regarding the development and implementation of the IEP.
