Position OverviewThe Engineering Team Lead (also referred to in the description as the MPS Assistant Project Manager) is responsible for providing technical engineering oversight and design team management for engineering projects. This management role handles financial, resource allocation, logistics, and technical leadership, mentoring and training staff under their supervision.
Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of project documentation including submittals, RFIs, and project meeting minutes.
- Supervise and direct overall project activities as assigned, including planning, coordinating, resolving problems, and ensuring compliance with company/project policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain change order, submittal, and document control logs; prepare required logs and other documentation for construction meetings.
- Create contract submittals that are accurate and timely for submission review.
- Issue subcontractor contracts and deliver owner and maintenance manuals.
- Monitor the project quality control plan and document issues for corrective action.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain correct documentation and drawings for owner and maintenance manuals.
- Update the warranty log and represent the company/project in meetings with clients and subcontractors.
- Assist field personnel technically and cooperate with them as needed.
- Monitor other contractors’ activities and progress.
- Other duties may be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
- Registration as a licensed U.S.
-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required. - Field experience (startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting) is strongly recommended.
- Education and experience can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Strong organizational, record‑keeping, and follow‑up skills.
- Excellent time‑management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Oracle preferred. - Ability to work under time pressure, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Self‑motivation, proactivity, and teamwork.
- Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to prepare job information sheets, establish job files, and assume project supervision responsibilities in the Program Manager’s absence.
- Prepare price change orders and project reports and documentation.
- Work with payroll to ensure accurate payroll information.
- Leadership – ability to lead a diverse team of people to accomplish a goal.
- Communication – fluency in oral and written formats.
- Teamwork – ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group to deliver extraordinary results.
- Up to 25% (does not include local field visits).
