Job Description:

As a Project Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing products, components, or systems to meet customer requirements. You will use CAD software to create technical drawings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the feasibility and manufacturability of designs. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a creative mindset to develop cost-effective and efficient solutions.

Primary

Accountabilities:
  • Design and develop lifting and handling equipment from concept stage through to production.
  • Contribute towards design reviews with various stakeholders.
  • Production of part and assembly engineering drawings using Solid Works 3D CAD.
  • Undertake hand calculations and stress analysis.
  • Design in accordance with technical specifications and applicable national standards.
  • Production of all project and technical file documentation.
  • Production of risk assessments, FMEA reports etc.
  • Attend and support design reviews, trials, meeting etc. at customer’s site.
  • Assist the sales department in producing technical proposals with ROM cost estimates; timescales/milestones, and contingency planning.
  • Create and maintain BOM’s on internal ERP System.
  • Work together with colleagues and external contractors/test houses to ensure that deliverables meet both industry and business standards.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the company’s products and services.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
Essential Personal Skills / Attributes:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design role.
  • Excellent 3D CAD modelling skills, ideally Solid Works.
  • Working knowledge of FEA and stress calculations.
  • A good standard of written and verbal English with attention to detail.
  • Computer literate, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project.
  • Ability to motivate self and work alone or as part of a team.
