The VP, Investor Accounting, is responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely preparation, reconciliation, reporting, and analysis of investor accounting activities for all loans within the servicing portfolio on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Investors may include Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, private-label investors, life insurance companies, real estate investment trusts, and securities firms investing in mortgage-backed securities.

A key component will be to transform the Investor Accounting function through automation, artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and process reengineering. The VP will identify opportunities to eliminate manual, repetitive, and low-value activities, improve operational efficiency and controls, enhance reporting accuracy, and leverage emerging technologies to create a scalable, data-driven investor accounting organization.

Responsibilities Investor Accounting Leadership
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of various P&​I, T&​I, and clearing accounts, including expected cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Review monthly remittance reports, where applicable, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of investor reporting.
  • Work with staff members to resolve reporting issues with trusts and investors while ensuring adherence to established policies and timely resolution of compliance-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain routines and controls to ensure successful Reg AB, USAP, investor, and external audit results.
  • Partner with Financial Controls and Compliance teams to maintain a strong control environment, accurate management reporting, and effective escalation processes that support regulatory and investor requirements.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting on accounting projects and ensure servicing losses, reserves, and other accounting impacts are identified and reported accurately and timely.
  • Determine root causes and recurring themes of operational outages, reconciliation breaks, and reporting exceptions, partnering with upstream and downstream business units to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Provide leadership and support for strategic initiatives, regulatory projects, acquisitions, servicing transfers, and other special projects.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by executive management.
Technology, Automation & AI Leadership
  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology and automation strategy for Investor Accounting focused on operational excellence, scalability, risk reduction, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-driven solutions, intelligent automation, machine learning tools, robotic process automation (RPA), and workflow technologies to reduce manual and repetitive accounting tasks.
  • Lead initiatives to automate reconciliations, exception management, investor reporting, audit support, cash balancing, data validation, and other high-volume operational processes.
  • Partner with Technology, Data Analytics, Finance, Operations, and Servicing teams to modernize systems and improve data quality, accessibility, and reporting capabilities.
  • Champion the use of predictive analytics, AI-assisted exception identification, and intelligent workflow management to improve operational performance and risk monitoring.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve the investor accounting operating model.
  • Establish metrics and reporting to measure automation effectiveness, operational efficiency gains, error reduction, and return on technology investments.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technology adoption across the Investor Accounting organization.

  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including hiring, training, coaching, developing, and retaining talent.
