Vice President, Mortgage Banker

Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association seeks a Vice President, Mortgage Banker to support the Morgan Stanley Home Loans team with high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth mortgage origination.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject‑matter expert for client interactions and internal/business partners.
  • Provide consultation on credit risk and appropriate loan products, including pricing and product selection for high‑net‑worth clients.
  • Analyze client finances and advise on loan products and other financial solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Manage client, Financial Advisor, and Private Banker expectations and communications.
  • Coordinate with underwriting and credit risk to secure timely closings.
  • Obtain, analyze, and validate all loan‑processing documents—including complex income, asset, credit, appraisal, insurance, and title documents—to meet underwriting conditions.
  • Decide Conditional Pre‑Approval Letters within policy, correctly applying lending guidelines and conditions.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for loans in process; provide alternative solutions and resolve escalations when necessary.
  • Manage inbound and outbound queues, multiple call campaigns, and bank initiatives, ensuring thorough client follow‑up.
  • Effectively manage a complex pipeline that includes Ultra High Net Worth and Private Wealth Management mortgage transactions.
  • Supervise and assess performance of Associate Mortgage Bankers, holding them accountable, recommending advancement, compensation and performance management to the Mortgage Banker Manager.
  • Provide training and guidance to associates, partners, and peers as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of wealth‑management or private‑bank mortgage lending experience.
  • Currently holding a Vice President (or equivalent) position or higher.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) as a mortgage loan originator.
Skills & Abilities
  • Established track record of developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ability to meet individual and organizational loan production goals while maintaining a large client base.
  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage products and client‑service experience.
  • In‑depth knowledge of compliance regulations and laws governing consumer mortgage lending, including fair lending, privacy, RESPA and TRID.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑starter with a strong sense of ownership and ability to manage time, prioritize and plan accordingly.
  • Proficiency in systems for accurate reporting and tracking, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proactive management of loan escalations to ensure timely resolution and enhanced client experience.
Compensation
  • Base salary expected between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at commencement of employment.
  • Compensation may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other short‑ and long‑term incentive packages.
  • Other benefit programs are sponsored by Morgan Stanley as part of the total compensation package.
