Vaco is currently seeking a System Design / Automation Engineer for a 6M C2H opportunity that is located in Coppell, TX, Jersey City, NJ, or Tampa, FL (hybrid onsite work 2-3 days per week). The ideal System Design / Automation Engineer will come with experience as an Architecture / Design authority, including influencing decisions and outcomes. The System Design / Automation Engineer will design, build, and operate an automation-first platform leveraging RHEL, Ansible Automation Platform, IaC, and AWS.

Additionally, the System Design / Automation Engineer will enable self-service for application teams through secure, scalable, and observable platform capabilities.

• Automate Platform Operations – Ansible Core / Automation Platform
• Design / Maintain IaC for AWS Resources with Terraform
• Implement CI/CD Pipelines – Infrastructure / Configuration
• Standardize RHEL Lifecycle Management – Build / Harden / Patch
• Develop / Document Architecture / Design Standards / Best Practices for the Linux Environment
• Create Secure Patterns for Identity / Access / Secrets Management
• Build Self-Service Experiences – Catalog Items / Reference Architectures
• Establish Observability Baselines / Drive Incident Response
• Security / Networking / App Team Collaboration – Champion GITOps Practices

• System Design / Automation Engineer – Design Architecture Standards / Best Practices / Secure Reference Patterns / Self-Service Capabilities (Service Catalogs / Automated Provisioning Workflows) | Influencing Cross-Functional Teams (Security / Network / Application)
• Linux Administration / RHEL (expertise) – Lifecycle Management (Build / Hardening / Patching / Compliance)

• Automation Scripting (BASH / Python) – Custom Automation / Tooling / Integration
• Implementing CI/CD Pipelines – Infrastructure / Configuration (Jenkins / GITLab / GITHUB Actions / AWS-Native Services) Focusing on Infrastructure- / Configuration-as-Code
• Cloud Networking Fundamentals – Security / Compliance Frameworks (NIST / CIS Benchmarks) / IAM / Secrets Management Patterns (Hashi Corp Vault / AWS Secrets Manager / KMS)
• Production Operations – Incident Management and Response / Root Cause Analysis / Establishing Observability Baselines (Monitoring / Logging / Tracing with Prometheus / Grafana / ELK Stack / Cloud Watch)
• GIT / GITOps Practices (proficiency) – Declarative Infrastructure / Configuration Management / Collaboration
