Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Architect and implement enterprise‑grade LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions tailored for retail operations, including cloud integrations (GCP), hybrid architectures, SD‑WAN, and secure multi‑location connectivity.
- Oversee 24/7 monitoring, performance tuning, patch management, and troubleshooting to ensure maximum uptime across all network assets.
- Lead implementation of firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and compliance frameworks (PCI‑DSS, SOX) to safeguard customer data and transactional integrity.
- Spearhead capacity planning, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity initiatives to future‑proof our network infrastructure.
- Partner with cybersecurity, e‑commerce, and IT operations teams to integrate new technologies into the ecosystem.
- Actively learn and stay informed of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and tools, passionate about technology
- Guide fellow engineers through hands‑on mentoring, configuration reviews, and technical leadership on high‑impact projects.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred.
- Advanced certifications (CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, GCP Professional Network Engineer) strongly preferred.
Experience and
Skills Required:
- 8+ years of progressive network engineering experience, including 4+ years leading senior‑level projects in complex, multi‑location environments.
- Enterprise routing/switching (Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto), BGP/OSPF/VLAN, SDN (EVPN/VXLAN), VRF, or other similar networking technologies.
- Deep knowledge of GCP networking, AWS, and hybrid cloud integrations including VPCs,
- Proficiency managing infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, Python/Bash for automation within Git Ops workflows.
- Expertise securing the network by managing firewall policies (Palo Alto, Meraki), configuring deep traffic inspection, and maintaining intrusion prevention systems for both internal and external network perimeters.
- Expertise designing and operating enterprise wireless networks (Cisco, Meraki) in large scale office and distribution center deployments, including modern authentication and security standards (802.1x, AAA, Cisco ISE)
- Experience managing public internet providers and modern telecommunication technologies to manage connectivity between sites.
- Experience managing VPN technologies for B2B (SSL/IPSec), client connectivity (Global Protect), and other ZTNA technologies.
- Experience managing networking in a virtualization environment (VMware, Kubernetes, Docker), NSX experience a plus.
- Experience configuring and managing load balancing technologies within the networking environment.
- Proficiency designing and deploying critical infrastructure services such as DNS and DHCP.
