Data Engineer, Data Security
Payrate: $58.00 - $60.00/hr.
Shift: 8 AM to 4 PM PST.
The successful candidate will manage and enhance our data stewardship efforts, focusing on metadata management, data governance, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities- Manage and enrich metadata in Atlan, ensuring datasets, tables, and pipelines are well‑documented and easily discoverable.
- Implement and maintain data cataloging standards, classifications (PII, sensitive data), and business glossary.
- Define and enforce data governance policies, including RBAC/ABAC and compliance requirements.
- Build and maintain end‑to‑end data lineage to support impact analysis and traceability (source → transformation → consumption).
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to improve data accessibility and usability.
- Oversee data quality standards, monitor issues, and drive resolution.
- Support access governance workflows and ensure proper handling of sensitive data.
- Configure Atlan integrations and automation with platforms like Databricks, GCP, Snowflake, and BI tools.
- We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the retail sector to join our team.
- Hands‑on experience with Atlan (preferred) or similar tools (Collibra, Alation).
- Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and lineage.
- Experience with modern data platforms (Databricks, GCP, Snowflake, etc.).
- Knowledge of PII handling, data security, RBAC/ABAC models.
- Proficiency in SQL and data pipeline concepts (ETL/ELT).
- Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in DBX to GCP migrations.
- Exposure to data quality tools (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, etc.).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA).
The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is $58.00 - $60.00/hour. Non‑exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
