The City of Coppell is seeking a Systems Administrator with strong technical experience in Microsoft Azure and M365, who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a broader technology environment.
You’ll collaborate with a team to support the systems that drive City services, including Azure, M365, Active Directory, hybrid infrastructure, virtualization, backup and recovery, enterprise systems, and public safety technology. While you may have specialized expertise in certain areas, there are opportunities for cross-training, knowledge sharing, and expanding your capabilities within the Systems Administration function.

Schedule CommitmentRegular attendance is an essential function of this role. The Systems Administrator typically works Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with additional hours as needed for system maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, or critical incidents. Occasional evening, weekend, or on‑call availability may be required to support business continuity and maintain the stability and security of the City’s IT infrastructure.
Pay PlanThis opportunity is exempt and on Pay Grade #20. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Rate: $82,676-$101, 274
Min: $82,676 ($39.75)
Mid: $101, 274 ($48.69)
Max: $119,872 ($57.63)
The City of Coppell Systems Administrator is required to be CJIS certified. Employees must meet the requirements for CJIS access.
ExperienceRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related technology environment.
- Experience administering and supporting a combination of on‑premises, cloud, and/or hybrid infrastructure, including areas such as servers, virtualization, storage, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, networking, and backup and recovery solutions.
- Experience troubleshooting system and infrastructure issues, performing routine system maintenance and upgrades, and supporting the availability, security, and reliability of technology environments.
- Experience working collaboratively with technical teams, users, vendors, or other partners to support organizational technology needs.
Preferred
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate. - Microsoft certifications related to security, compliance, identity, or Microsoft 365 administration.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or comparable virtualization certification.
- CompTIA Security+ or comparable security certification.
- Additional certifications related to cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, or systems administration
