Employment Law Advice & Counsel
Advise HR and business leaders on a broad range of employment matters including hiring, performance management, discipline, terminations, accommodations, leaves of absence, and reductions in force.
Advise on compensation- and benefits-related legal issues including executive compensation agreements, equity award documentation, incentive plans, and ERISA-adjacent employment matters.
Lead internal investigations related to employee complaints, workplace conduct and potential policy infractions.
Support employment-related litigation, administrative proceedings, and demand letters, including strategy development, budgeting, and settlement negotiations.
Draft and update employment-related documentation, including policies and agreements.
Actively drive the company's restrictive covenant program and state-by-state enforce ability, including ongoing refinement of non-compete, non-solicitation, non-hire, confidentiality, and intellectual property protection agreements.
Manage cease-and-desist communications, pre-litigation demands, TRO/injunction strategy, and related litigation in coordination with outside counsel.
Partner with HR and Shared Services on execution of agreements across multiple forms.
Advise on restrictive covenant implications in M&A transactions, including assessment of target-company agreements and post-closing integration of restrictive covenant programs.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations including wage & hour, EEO and disability, workplace safety, and workforce restructuring.
Advise on compliance policies including conflicts, gifts and entertainment, and third-party due diligence screening.
Support internal audits in connection with employment law issues.
Contribute toward the development of HR-related and compliance training programs.
Advise on labor relations matters, including CBA interpretation, grievance and arbitration management, NLRB proceedings, and unfair labor practice charge response.
Support labor strategy in connection with organizing activity, contract negotiations, strikes, lockouts, and post-expiration status quo management.
Collaborate with HR, Operations, Corporate Functions, and executive leadership to align legal guidance with business objectives.
Provide clear, practical and succinct legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
Support integration planning for newly acquired companies, including harmonizing policies, practices and compliance frameworks.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar in the jurisdiction of employment, or eligibility to obtain admission in that jurisdiction.
8-10+ years of relevant employment law experience.
Knowledge of federal and state labor/employment laws and regulations.
Experience supporting internal labor and HR teams with labor negotiations, grievance/arbitration matters, and/or NLRB proceedings is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with risk tolerance calibration and operational execution.
