Schedule CommitmentRegular attendance is an essential job function and employment duties are routinely performed in 10‑hour shifts Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with additional hours as needed on call.
Pay PlanThis opportunity is non‑exempt and on Pay Grade #8.
The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range- Min $22.17 ($46,119)
- Mid $27.15 ($56,479)
- Max $32.15 ($66,862)
This opportunity will remain open until our team is complete. Our hiring team is completing weekly application material reviews and technical phone screenings. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a DISC Assessment and in‑person Panel Interview.

Experience- High School Diploma/GED
- 5+ years of experience in utility maintenance or a related field (construction, plumbing, heavy equipment operation, or other underground infrastructure work).
- Proven ability to lead crews by mentoring, training, and coordinating field work to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality results.
- Must possess a Class C Water Distribution by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
- Class I Wastewater Collection License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will be required within six months post‑hire for continued employment.
- Valid State of Texas Class “B” CDL is required and may be required to upgrade to a Class “A” CDL with combination and tanker endorsements within 1‑year post‑hire.
- Class “A” CDL is preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanics and basic hand tools is required.
- Ability to work closely with others as part of a team responsible for providing public service to the City and its citizens.
- Ability to perform tedious and exacting work as well as multiple tasks simultaneously in dangerous, noisy, and distracting environments under time pressures. Tasks frequently subject this employee to safety risks related to operating in or around traffic zones and occasional emergency situations.
- Ability to perform many physically demanding tasks, which involve a high degree of concern for personal safety and the safety of coworkers, citizens, and other individuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers and members of the general public using the English language verbally on a daily basis is essential.
- Ability to take and follow directions.
