Chef De Département Adjoint Muséologique

In the context of a new position, Universcience is recruiting an assistant head of museological department.

Within a team of about thirty people and under the authority of your hierarchical manager and in support of your director, you coordinate the conception/production of the exhibitions entrusted to you. You participate in the definition of the museographic approach and the production of permanent, temporary and itinerant exhibition projects. You may instruct exhibition projects in view of their programming. You participate in the implementation of cultural engineering projects and in the definition of an exhibition commercialization strategy.

You take part in all or part of the missions of the hierarchical manager, replace and support him/her to ensure his/her interim or to pilot a project.

You take on the following missions in particular:

In the title of the development and implementation of the museological offer:

  • participate in the definition of the strategic axes of the department with its manager and in the ad hoc committees;
  • supervise the conception production of certain projects of the department; intervene in the initial strategic decisions of the project;
  • ensure the smooth running of the project led by a project manager or a project leader;
  • give help and/or advice when necessary to the project manager or the project leader and the project managers throughout the conception-production of the project;
  • ensure that the constraints of maintainability and exploitability of the elements of exhibitions and scenographic are integrated during the conception;
  • follow up the museological offer according to its declinations;
  • assist the manager in the strategic choices of the direction in the projects of commercial character in relation with the concerned departments; be a force of proposal on the montages of commercial or non-commercial projects;
  • assist the manager in the relations with the other departments of the direction and of Universcience; be a force of proposal on new methods of work in conception/production of exhibitions;
  • watch over the museographic quality.

In the title of the management of the department, in collaboration with the head or the head of the department:

  • contribute to the implementation of the programming of the actions in the framework of the human resources and the financial and technical means allocated, in order to reach the objectives set;
  • coordinate the arbitration of the actions and the means and participate in the control of the results;
  • pre-argue the human and financial needs in the forecast plans;
  • co-pilot the follow-up of planning, budgetary and technical operations;
  • participate in the evaluation of the personnel of the department and contribute to the development of the skills.

Holder of a master's level 2 training in the fields of administrative and financial management or exhibition scenography or museological production you justify a professional experience of 5 years in museographic conception of exhibition projects, if possible of a scientific character.

A few years of experience in project or team management integrating the dimension of budgetary and human resources management is appreciated.

You participate in national and international professional conferences and you are an active or permanent member of a professional association related to the sector of activity.

You master particularly the following skills:

  • in-depth knowledge of scientific and technical museology, museography for children and audiences on the national and international level;
  • knowledge in museology outside the scientific and technical fields;
  • in-depth knowledge of the rules of public procurement;
  • knowledge of the regulatory constraints of an ERP;
  • knowledge and taste for general culture and scientific culture in particular;
  • knowledge of communication techniques;
  • analytical, writing and synthesis skills;
  • skills in management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams; very good relational qualities, sense of diplomacy and very good capacity of listening; decision-making spirit and strong ability to make adhere;
  • organization and prioritization skills;
  • sense of method and rigor.
