Procurement Team Lead
The Procurement Team Lead will manage a work group responsible for the procurement of engineered equipment, commodities, permanent plant materials, and small tools and supplies.
Responsibilities- Monitor, evaluate, and mentor the working team on meeting or exceeding performance goals and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures and strict adherence to documentation requirements.
- Oversee and plan all aspects of procurement from pre‑bid to close‑out.
- Effectively manage people and projects within the assigned region to pursue cost savings opportunities while implementing and adhering to process standardization efficiencies.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to staff personnel as required and furnish performance evaluation input to the Regional Procurement Manager.
- Support the estimating department by contacting suppliers for budgetary quotations for materials and equipment in bid preparation.
- Represent the company in contracts and formulate supplier policies, negotiating terms and conditions with equipment and material suppliers while consulting corporate attorneys and senior management.
- Monitor and oversee the competitive bid process via RFP or RFQ for the team.
- Lead the qualification and evaluation process for suppliers of materials and equipment and orchestrate aggregated sourcing events across regions.
- Collaborate with the Center of Excellence on larger category strategy initiatives to enhance margin and process efficiencies.
- Review all internal/external metrics for suppliers, procurement, and operations to ensure targets are met and identify root causes and mitigation actions.
- Ensure recommended awards comply with the approved decision model and delegation of authority, maintaining procurement policy adherence.
- Establish and maintain mutually beneficial supplier relationships through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and provide feedback on market and delivery systems.
- Communicate and enforce procurement policies and procedures.
- Oversee financial planning, delivery schedules, and procurement reporting.
- Oversee the development and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Enter documentation into the purchasing system, review and approve invoices, and resolve invoice problems with vendors and A/P.
- Develop and use third‑party Non‑Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and ensure proper and timely credit for returned materials.
- Bachelor’s Degree – required.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical procurement experience.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment and construction materials.
- Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, and accounting.
- Ability to delegate work effectively and balance people and project oversight while performing in a working manager role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong supervisory skills with demonstrated ability to mentor Procurement Agents and Sr. Procurement Agents.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in computer use, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Oracle.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities.
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills required for the position.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Professional conduct with all employees, vendors, clients, and others.

Working ConditionsThe general work environment includes sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, and pushing. Work is conducted primarily indoors with changing environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
