Position: CNC Machinist I - 2nd Shift

Overview

The CNC Machinist I will work on second shift, performing programming, setup, and operation of multi-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision parts. Responsibilities include coordinating with engineering on design for manufacture and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Responsibilities
  • Program and operate a multi-axis CNC mill.
  • Develop programs in Mastercam or similar systems from Solid Works CAD models.
  • Produce tight-tolerance, high-quality parts from models and programs.
  • Self-directed and motivated to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain the CNC machine and surrounding area in a clean, orderly fashion.
  • Specify and recommend tooling and work holding for various projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers to promote design for manufacture.
  • Estimate timelines for machining tasks and work to timely completion.
  • Support tool room activities using the CNC machine to produce fixtures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
  • Mastercam experience.
  • Strong aptitude in trigonometry, geometry, statistics, and algebra; excellent computer and interpersonal communication skills; physical stamina.
  • Experience with micrometer and caliper measurement tools.
  • CNC lathe experience.
  • Experience using CNC machines (lathe and milling).
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) understanding.
  • CAM programming experience or programming software for machine controls.
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience with mechanical systems, tools, or machines.
  • CNC programming experience or programming CNC machines used in manufacturing.
  • Tooling experience, including designing, engineering and creating new tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • CAD software for creating, modifying, analyzing, or optimizing designs.
  • Solid Works skills for creating 3D models; familiarity with Windows environment.
  • Assembly experience in manufacturing, production, and warehouse settings.
  • Basic math concepts and basic blueprint reading.
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience.
  • Experience with hand tools and welding.
  • Bore gauge usage for hole measurements.
  • Electrical discharge machining (EDM) skills and related programming/maintenance knowledge.
Travel Requirements

Up to 10% travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing duties, employees may be asked to walk for extended periods and to bend, climb, rotate, squat, reach, kneel, or stoop; lift up to 40 pounds; and use a computer for extended periods. Work may require exposure to heat/cold, heights, gases, vibration, dust, chemicals, odors, dampness, fumes, and noise.
