Material Handler
This position supports the Distribution division by ensuring accurate inventory, efficient material flow, and reliable support to warehouse operations. The Inventory Control Specialist / Material Handler is responsible for maintaining accurate raw-material inventory, supporting warehouse operations, and ensuring timely material movement throughout the facility. This role combines inventory accuracy, cycle counting, material handling, and system-driven data integrity using the company's Internal Warehouse Management System and SAP.
The position plays a critical role in supporting production readiness, preventing stockouts, reducing shrink, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Inventory Control Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cycle counts with high accuracy to support inventory integrity
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the Internal WMS
- Research and resolve inventory discrepancies using SAP and internal reporting tools
- Escalate all variances immediately to management
- Support weekly location audits to ensure correct material placement
- Monitor replenishment accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain shrink awareness and report any damaged, missing, or mislabeled materials
- Ensure all put-away and material movements are scanned and recorded correctly
- Support monthly and quarterly inventory accuracy reporting
- Material Handling Responsibilities:
- Operate propane and/or electric forklifts safely and efficiently
- Perform start-of-shift forklift inspections and document findings
- Resolve identified issues with damaged or mislabeled materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist with inbound receiving, put-away, and outbound staging
- Support general warehouse duties as assigned
System Responsibilities:
- Use the Internal WMS for all inventory transactions, cycle counts, replenishments, and put-aways
- Use SAP for discrepancy research, reporting, and inventory adjustments
- Ensure all scans, transactions, and data entries meet accuracy standards
- Report system issues or data inconsistencies immediately
Qualifications:
- Previous warehouse experience
- Ability to operate forklifts safely
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow standardized processes and documentation
- Comfortable using warehouse management systems and SAP
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
