Primary PurposeAssist in the efficient management of scheduling, records and data for the Special Education department.
Qualifications Education / CertificationHigh school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge / Skills- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing
- Ability to manage multiple electronic calendars
- Understanding of interface between multiple software systems
Three years of secretarial/clerical experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Maintain Special Education Records
- Receive, review, and process Special Education records and data.
- Make and receive calls, take reliable messages, answer basic questions, route to appropriate staff, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Schedule ARD meetings for Special Education students and for potential referrals for Special Education evaluation.
- Collate and assemble SPED referral packets including copying of assessment.
- Maintain SPED departmental files, state files, electronic archives, and protect confidential student records.
- Serve as the point of contact for all questions related to student records for any student served by SPED or being considered for SPED.
- Prepare reports related to all files that are a part of different accountability systems.
- Maintain a system for hard copy records related to any student served by SPED.
- Monitor the system for tracking movement and accuracy of files.
- Comply with all rules and regulations related to School files.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations, communicate effectively (verbal and written), and operate personal computer.
Physical Demands / Environmental FactorsRepetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.
