Position Summary
As a Carpenter, you will be working with leading experts in Mass Timber and tall wood construction. You will be responsible for supporting the site supervision team to maintain the progress of solid wood framing systems by completing any required carpentry tasks using engineered wood products such as glulam and cross laminated timber (CLT). With ongoing mentoring and hands‑on experience, your existing skillset as a carpenter will allow you to quickly progress on our unique projects with new materials and processes.
KeyAccountabilities
- Performing all on‑site carpentry tasks, such as mass timber work, light wood framing, back‑framing, and layout.
- Operating carpentry and general construction hand tools, power tools, nail guns, portable saws, etc.
- Using personal protective equipment including fall protection equipment (after training and certification), hard hats, high‑vis vests, safety footwear, glasses, etc.
- Participating in all safety requirements on projects and taking part in daily job hazard assessments and weekly toolbox safety meetings.
- Participating in weekly production meetings.
- Assisting the team with any general construction activities as needed, including clean‑up and demolition.
- Rigging and crane works (after training and certification).
- Operating telehandlers and manlifts (after training and certification).
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- The ability to build solid long‑lasting relationships.
- The ability to anticipate problems and solve proactively.
- A high attention to detail.
- A high degree of professionalism and maturity.
- Strong time‑management skills, particularly the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
- Experience with framing, formwork, finishing.
- Good knowledge of general construction duties – pump set up, use of tools, weather protection, etc.
- Red Seal or Apprentice L4 is an asset.
- Leadership experience or the ability to mentor and train is an asset.
- Willing to travel to projects located across Greater Vancouver.
- Strong safety mindset and experience in coordination of safety paperwork.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to work‑related demands.
- OFA II is an asset.
