About the Role
The Allen Morris Company is seeking a Senior Development Accountant with experience in condominium development and construction accounting to support active and future development projects. This role will be responsible for full‑cycle development accounting, including job costing, lender draw packages, deposit accounting, statutory condominium requirements under Florida law, and financial reporting using Yardi.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and experienced working closely with development, construction, and finance teams in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain full general ledger accounting for condominium development entities from pre‑development through completion and close‑out
- Manage construction job costing, including budgets, cost tracking, WIP schedules, and variance analysis
- Prepare and submit monthly construction draw packages to lenders, including AIA documentation, lien waivers, and supporting schedules
- Track and reconcile condominium buyer deposits, escrows, and related liabilities in compliance with Florida condominium statutes
- Record and monitor development costs, soft costs, hard costs, capitalized interest, and owner contributions
- Coordinate with development, construction, and asset management teams to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for development entities
- Assist with joint venture reporting, partner capital accounts, and investor reporting as required
- Support annual audits, lender reviews, and internal reporting requests
- Maintain and optimize accounting processes within Yardi, including construction and job cost modules
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in real estate development and construction accounting, preferably with condominium projects
- Knowledge of Florida condominium accounting and statutory requirements
- Hands‑on experience preparing lender draw packages and working directly with banks and construction lenders
- Experience with Yardi (job cost modules strongly preferred)
- Excellent Excel skills and strong financial reporting capabilities
- Highly detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with development, construction, legal, and finance teams
