Accountant

An accountant at Castillo & Company is a professional who will perform day-to-day accounting tasks with the objective of producing financial statements and working with the client engagement team to provide optimal service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare writeups and compilations.
  • Analyze variances in the monthly budget/forecast to actual reports as requested.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures.
  • Assist clients with Quick Books consultations including journal entries, balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist clients with depreciation, accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Input raw data into the Quick Books system, handle pertinent journal entries and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist client in coordinating with payroll processing services and assist clients with payroll processing functions when necessary.
  • Prepare or assist clients with sales tax returns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting.
  • Fluent in an additional language to English is desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent worker that demonstrates good judgment and analytical abilities and has experience working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
Tax Staff

A Tax Staff at Castillo & Company will work on individual, corporate, partnership, trust and foreign individual and entity tax returns. You will also prepare tax estimates, do basic tax research and draft correspondence to the IRS and other taxing authorities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze data and prepare individual and non-individual tax returns.
  • Identify, research, and assess various tax issues and provide information to seniors and managers.
  • Assist with research and consulting engagements as requested.
  • Complete basic research pertaining to applicable accounting standards.
  • Provide ongoing status updates to direct supervisor.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Working toward a Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation or 150 semester hours of education to be eligible to sit for the CPA.
  • Fluent in an additional language to English is desirable.
  • Prepare or assist clients with sales tax returns.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent worker that demonstrates good judgment and analytical abilities and has experience working in a fast paced environment.

Tax Senior

As a Tax Senior at Castillo & Company you will provide a full range of tax services. You will interact closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting and compliance expertise in conjunction with the rest of your team. In addition, you will review tax returns, prepare complex tax returns, train and supervise the tax staff. You will provide support to senior management on clients.

You are encouraged to participate in practice development and business development activities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze and prepare complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, pass-through entities, consolidated returns and trust.
  • Review less complex tax returns prepared by the tax staff, provide comments to the staff and prepare for final review.
  • Ascertain that the client is in compliance with Federal, pertinent state and international tax jurisdictions and all filings are timely provided to the clients.
  • Supervise and provide on the job training for tax staff and interns on tax compliance.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information for the preparation of the tax returns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
  • Minimum three years of public accounting experience in tax and specific experience in international taxation is desirable.
  • Fluent in an additional language to English is desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent worker that demonstrates good judgment and analytical abilities and has experience working in a fast paced environment.
