Specialist, Payroll

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution for all employees.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
• Process payroll-related changes, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefit deductions.
• Lead and manage the payroll team, providing training and support as needed.
• Review and reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy in earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure proper employee classification and payroll funding.
• Administer payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with IRS and state tax agencies.
• Handle payroll audits, reporting, and year‑end processing, including W‑2 and 1099 preparation.
• Manage relationships with third‑party payroll providers and vendors.
• Address employee payroll inquiries and resolve any payroll discrepancies promptly.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience, preferably in a multi‑state or large‑scale organization.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP, Workday, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.
• Knowledge:
  Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and wage & hour laws.
• Soft Skills:
  
  Excellent attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Certifications:
  
  CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation is a plus.
