The University of Miami's UMIT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Inventory Clerk, based on-site in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Senior Inventory Clerk is responsible for overseeing inventory control activities to ensure accurate tracking, proper storage, and timely availability of materials, equipment, and supplies. This role supports audits, mentors junior staff, and collaborates with vendors, operations, and management to maintain optimal inventory levels.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems and manual logs as required
- Perform regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and annual physical inventories
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and overages
- Coordinate receipt, inspection, labeling, storage, and issuance of inventory items
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend reorders to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and security of inventory in compliance with policies and safety standards
- Prepare inventory reports, usage trends, and variance analyses for management review
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Train and mentor inventory clerks and other staff on inventory procedures and best practices
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and implementation of inventory
CORE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to lift and move items with an up to weight of 35lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
