Position Overview

Gulliver Prep Primary School faculty are nurturing, developmentally responsive educators who create warm, engaging, and intentionally structured environments where young children can thrive. Rooted in early childhood best practices and aligned with the school’s mission, our faculty foster foundational academic skills, social‑emotional learning, creativity, and curiosity through play, exploration, and purposeful instruction. They work collaboratively with colleagues and families to support each child’s cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development in a safe and inclusive community.

Job Responsibilities

The Primary School Faculty key responsibilities are as follows:

Academic Instruction & Curriculum Implementation
  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and motor and sensory development.
  • Use play‑based and hands‑on learning experiences to build foundational skills and foster student engagement.
  • Create a classroom environment that supports inquiry, imagination, collaboration, and confidence‑building.
  • Collaborate within and across grade‑level teams to align curriculum and routines that promote readiness for the next stage of learning.
Child Development & Student Well‑being
  • Understand and respond to the unique developmental needs of children ages 3–6, including speech/language, motor, cognitive, and emotional domains.
  • Promote social‑emotional growth through structured routines, Responsive Classroom management, and the intentional teaching of empathy, cooperation, and independence.
  • Observe and assess student progress using both formal and informal tools; use data to inform instructional decisions and personalize support.
  • Partner with specialists, counselors, and families to ensure holistic support for each child’s growth and readiness.
Professional Growth & Collaboration
  • Actively participate in professional learning, team planning, and ongoing curriculum development initiatives.
  • Reflect on and refine instructional practices in response to student data, and feedback/coaching from GLC’s.
  • Stay informed about current research in early childhood education and apply best practices to classroom instruction.
  • Participate in required training and growth opportunities, including the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) professional learning sequence when applicable.
Community & School Engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families through regular communication, parent conferences, and family engagement activities.
