Assistant Library Director for Collection Services
The Librarian Assistant Professor;
Assistant Library Director for Collection Services plans, organizes, and supervises services and activities in the department, including cataloging, metadata, serials, database and electronic resource management, preservation, processing, acquisitions, and collection development. The individual also supervises related staff and manages the department's successful operation.
- Supervise Collection Services librarians and staff to ensure effective organization of departmental workflows.
- Ensure quality control of bibliographic databases, including Ex Libris/ALMA, the institutional repository, and OCLC databases.
- Manage day-to-day activities of the acquisition department: planning, ordering, licensing, invoicing, receiving, record maintenance, and budgeting for electronic, print, and other resources.
- Provide leadership and coordination for developing a holistic collection development strategy supporting the school’s teaching and research interests.
- Perform collection assessments, produce reports, and track metrics on the collections.
- Cultivate collections of special interest and maintain and plan record maintenance for current Special Collections.
- Stay current with developments and provide expert advice to the library on information resources; participate in professional development activities and develop professional relationships with counterparts in other institutions.
- Participate in reference and instructional services as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
An MLIS (or equivalent) from an accredited institution and at least 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in acquisitions and collection strategy.
Preferred Qualifications- J.D. from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a law library.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; strong service philosophy; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with people from varied backgrounds.
