Risk Manager/Analyst, Portfolio Manager
We are seeking a detail-driven and credit-focused Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager to oversee the performance, risk management, and ongoing servicing of a diverse CRE loan portfolio within a highly regulated banking environment.
This role plays a critical part in safeguarding asset quality while supporting the growth of existing client relationships. The Portfolio Manager will serve as the analytical backbone of the lending team, monitoring financial performance, ensuring covenant compliance, and proactively identifying emerging credit risks across a variety of commercial property types including stabilized, transitional, construction, and bridge assets.
Beyond portfolio oversight, this individual will contribute to new loan execution by guiding deals through the credit lifecycle, from early-stage evaluation through underwriting support, approval, closing, and successful transition into the managed portfolio.
Partnering closely with Relationship Managers, Credit, and Risk teams, this role helps ensure every credit aligns with the bank’s policy standards, regulatory expectations, and long-term risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the ongoing credit performance of an assigned CRE portfolio
- Conduct financial analysis including borrower cash flow, property performance, and guarantor strength
- Monitor covenant compliance and identify early warning signs of credit deterioration
- Prepare annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and internal credit memos
- Support new deal evaluation through preliminary credit analysis
- Assist in structuring transactions alongside lending and underwriting teams
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and property inspections
- Ensure timely receipt and review of financial reporting and documentation
- Maintain accurate credit files and portfolio records
- Escalate emerging risks and recommend appropriate action plans
- Support loan closing, documentation review, and funding processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, Risk, and Operations
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policy and regulatory standards including BSA/AML and OFAC
- 3+ years of experience in CRE portfolio management, underwriting, or commercial credit
- Strong knowledge of CRE loan structures including:
- Bridge / transitional assets
- Ability to analyze:
- Operating statements
- Rent rolls
- Cash flow
- Experience supporting transactions from evaluation through closing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple credits simultaneously
- Collaborative mindset with strong sense of ownership
- Willingness to travel for property inspections as needed
