The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB SUMMARY
Supports the department's sponsored research, testing, and technology-development activities by planning and conducting experiments; collecting, analyzing, and documenting data; contributing to manuscripts, technical reports, and proposals; and collaborating with faculty, students, and staff to advance department and University research goals. The Post Doctoral Associate will work directly under the supervision of one to two faculty members.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans and conducts department-specific research activities, including laboratory, computational, and/or field investigations, in support of funded and emerging projects.
- Collects, curates, analyzes, and interprets experimental and research data; maintains complete, organized, and accessible records for faculty oversight and project reporting.
- Prepares or contributes to manuscripts, technical memoranda, sponsor reports, presentations, invention disclosures, and other scholarly or translational research products.
- Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
- Assists faculty with development of proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and supporting technical content for extramural funding submissions, subject to required approvals.
- Supports day-to-day operation of research facilities by coordinating laboratory organization, equipment use, supply needs, maintenance scheduling, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Trains, mentors, and provides technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, research personnel, and visiting scholars working on related projects.
- Coordinates with internal and external collaborators, including sponsors, industry partners, and other University units, to advance project milestones and deliverables.
DEPARTMENT PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Ph.D. in chemistry, engineering, materials science, or a closely related field required.
Certification and Licensing:
No specific certification or licensure required at hire; completion of University and department-required research, laboratory safety, and compliance training required.
Experience:
Minimum one year of relevant postdoctoral, industrial, or university research experience preferred, including experimental design, data analysis, technical writing, and collaborative research support.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
