Environmental Specialist II with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry conducts site inspections and regulatory work to protect Florida's native and cultivated plants from pests, pathogens, and improper trade. The role involves field diagnostics, pest detection, nursery compliance monitoring, and issuing phytosanitary certificates for plant exports. Occasional travel including overnight and emergency assignments is required.
KeyQualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, health, physical/natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering; OR six months as Environmental Sp
- Valid Class E driver license
- Must obtain fruit fly certification within six months of appointment
- Subject to background screening including fingerprinting
- Authorized Certification Official for Phytosanitary Certificates
