Job Description

Available shifts:
Evenings and Overnights – 10 hour shifts on every other weekend.

• Includes completing nursing assessments on incarcerated individuals.
• Includes physical examinations of all reported incarcerated individual injuries/illnesses, including staff injuries.
• Includes nursing procedures.
• Provide emergency first aid and CPR.
• Must be able to respond to Code Blue or other emergency situations with arrival in an expedient, timely manner.

• Document nursing assessments, interventions, planning and evaluations.
• Must be able to document in order to accurately describe events or findings.
• Must be able to speak, write and follow instructions in the English language.
• Must be aware of and comply with all policies/procedures.
• Must complete computer documentation.

• Assess patients to identify appropriate psychiatric nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care.
• Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in client’s condition.

Must be able to deliver written and verbal information to incarcerated individuals and off-site medical personnel.

• Provide incarcerated individual training, e.g., medication, daily cares.
• Provide staff training.

• Including assisting physician, dentist, optometrist, X-ray and/or lab services.

Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
