Position: EMT and Paramedic - Full-time, Part-time & PRN Available

Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role in providing emergency medical care and transportation to patients in need. This position requires a high level of professionalism, compassion, and medical expertise to ensure the safety and well‑being of patients during critical situations. Paramedics provide advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured, administering direct care to patients of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician’s assistant, or emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner, or by utilizing approved EMS protocols if transporting a patient.

Paramedics ensure adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care within the medical‑director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
  • Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within the required timeframe.
  • Provides compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families during transport to medical facilities.
  • Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
  • Assures resources and coordinates the plan of delivery.
  • Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in the fleet to operate smoothly and safely.
  • Ensures the ambulance is clean, stocked, and response‑ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each request for service.
  • Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness, including ALS gear readiness and utilization.
Minimum Requirements for EMT
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician‑Basic Certification by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC.
  • Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Minimum Requirements for Paramedic
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC.
  • PALS and ACLS certifications.
  • Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
  • Valid driver’s license.
