Job Description:
Registered Nurse Full-Time, 3rd Shift Labor and Delivery The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit is a vital component of the hospital’s Women’s Health services, dedicated to the safe management of childbirth and immediate maternal-newborn care. This unit provides comprehensive, patient- and family-centered care throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period, focusing on clinical excellence, safety, emotional support, and individualized care.
The Labor and Delivery Unit coordinates multidisciplinary services to monitor maternal and fetal well-being, manage labor progression, respond to obstetric emergencies, and ensure seamless transitions to postpartum and neonatal care. Facilitates the delivery of perioperative nursing care by achieving desired surgical outcomes. The OB Technician is a professional caregiver working under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse and responsible for providing assigned care according to scope of practice.
Has adequate knowledge to approach patients of all age groups. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Assists with patient preparation, positioning, and surgical procedures. Prepares, counts, and maintains surgical instruments and equipment. Maintains and monitors the sterile field throughout procedures. Passes instruments, retracts tissue, and operates surgical equipment as directed. Assists with vaginal deliveries and care of mothers and newborns as needed. Provides support in Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Well-Baby, and Level II Nursery areas as assigned. Stocks rooms and ensures necessary supplies and equipment are available.
Completes charges and assigned clerical duties. Maintains patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality. Follows hospital infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification Basic life support
- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don’t have it already. ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
