Overview
ER‑RN Full‑Time, 1st Shift at Baptist Health Corbin Emergency Department (ED), a Level IV Trauma Designated unit with 28 beds. The ED provides comprehensive, around‑the‑clock care to patients of all ages, treating conditions from non‑emergent complaints to life‑threatening illnesses and injuries. A split‑flow area supports fast‑track patients with lower acuity, and a behavioral health intake area safely assesses and manages patients presenting with mental health and behavioral health concerns.
The role requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based on the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. The RN designs and ensures multidisciplinary patient care, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards, and supervises LPNs, CNAs, techs, unit secretaries, and clinical students.
Responsibilities- Performs and documents assessments; develops, updates, and evaluates plans of care; sets measurable goals and evaluates outcomes.
- Educates patients and families; communicates patient status and ensures accurate documentation.
- Delivers care per policies and MD orders; implements nursing care plans and procedures.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies; supports staff and patient flow.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and delegation; communicates effectively using SBAR and ARCC.
- Identifies patient needs and promotes safety; prioritizes and organizes patient care.
- Delegates effectively and collaborates with the team; serves as a role model and resource.
- Completes required training and education; maintains licensure and regulatory compliance.
- Reports compliance concerns appropriately.
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of a dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; new employees to receive CPR‑BLS training within first week of orientation.
- Glucometer training; basic cardiac arrhythmia training within 6 months.
- NIH Stroke Certification within 6 months; 12‑lead ECG training within 6 months.
- Nurse wound care within 30 days; trauma nursing care course (TNCC) within 6 months.
