Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery (Full‑Time, 1st Shift, BHCOR‑Surgical Services, Corbin, KY)

Summary:

Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical and procedural services in the OSC, which includes a pre‑op unit with 6 bays, intra‑op, phase 2 recovery with 4 bays, and an isolation room with 2 bays. Responsibilities span pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative circulating duties, post‑anesthesia recovery, and discharge planning and education.

• Perform pre‑operative assessments, develop plans of care, and provide patient education.
• Act as circulating nurse during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and workflow efficiency.
• Provide peri‑operative and PACU nursing care, monitoring patient status and responding to changes or emergencies.
• Coordinate discharge planning, including education and documentation of patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, surgical staff, patients, and families to promote optimal outcomes.
• Advocate for patients, promote a culture of safety and quality, and adhere to regulatory and professional standards.
• Demonstrate leadership through delegation, teamwork, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
• Maintain required licensure, certifications, competencies, and organizational safety standards.

• Associate Degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Kentucky RN license or Kentucky work permit.
• No prior experience required; experience in peri‑operative, critical care, or emergency department preferred.

• BLS (American Heart Association) certification within 30 days.
• Glucometer training upon hire.
• Aegis training as required.
